Serving the People of God in union with the bishop and the priests of the diocese, the permanent deacon is ordained to be the sacrament of Christ the Servant. The primary focus of the permanent deacon's ministry is the promotion of justice and charity, as well as the proclamation of the Word of God. As an ordained member of the faithful, he also exercises a defined role at the the Eucharist.
