Bishop Blase Cupich comes to the Diocese of Spokane as a seasoned pastor who has served long and well both in the Diocese of Rapid City and on the national level. He is thoughtful and balanced, intelligent and approachable, with a deep love of priests and parishioners alike. He is no stranger to the hardships and struggles of our day, and addresses them through consultation and bridge building. He will preach and teach first by example and then by word. Bishop Cupich is a wonderful choice for the Diocese of Spokane.

Bishop William Skylstad is a blessing for the Church well beyond the borders of the Spokane Diocese. He is hardworking and pastoral, prayerful and self-effacing, with a deep sense of God’s presence in our daily lives. Bishop Skylstad is among the most welcoming and hospitable people I know. The words of the late Pope John XXIII personify his mission and ministry, “There will always be a lamp shining in my window. All may come in. The arms of a friend are waiting.”
