The Inland Empire Catholic Charismatic Renewal (IECCR) is sponsoring a two-day healing conference, “Bring your Wounded Heart,” Friday and Saturday, June 18 and 19, at Gonzaga Prep, 1224 E. Euclid Ave. in Spokane.

Featured speaker will be Oblate Father Richard McAlear.

The conference takes as its theme Matthew 11:28: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest.”

The conference begins Friday evening at 7:30 p.m. and concludes after a 5 p.m. Mass on Saturday.

Friday, June 18:
Praise and Worship, 7-7:30 p.m.
Welcome, 7:30-7:45 p.m.
General session, 7:45-9 p.m.

Saturday, June 19:
Registration begins at 8 a.m.
Praise and worship, 9-9:30 a.m.
First general session, 9:30-10:30 a.m.
Break, 10:30-11 a.m.
Second general session, 11 a.m.-noon.
Lunch, noon-1:30 p.m.
Third general session, 2-3 p.m.
Break, 3-3:30 p.m.
Fourth general session, 3:30-4:30 p.m.
Break, 4:30-5 p.m.
Healing Mass and conference close, 5 p.m.

According to conference materials, healing ministry “is rooted in a Scriptural understanding that the human individual needs to become whole. This healing is both mental and emotional, and is blessed through prayer which touches the hearts of those in need of God’s love and compassion.”

Father McAlear (right), a native of Boston, entered the Religious order of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate in 1960. He studied in Rome, where he received degrees in theology and philosophy, and was ordained there in 1970. He returned to the United States, where he taught high school and received another degree in religious education.

Father McAlear became involved in the Catholic Charismatic Renewal in 1972 and with healing ministry in 1976. He has since ministered throughout the world, including the United States, Asia, South America, Canada, Australia, New Guinea, Guatemala, Italy, France, Portugal and Scotland.

Since seating is limited, advance registration is encouraged. There is no set charge for attendance; free-will donations will be accepted.
