Maryknoll Sister Agnes McKiernan marks 70th jubileethe Inland Register (From the Feb. 25, 2010 edition of the Inland Register)
She was joined by jubilarians for 85, 75, and 70 years at a Eucharistic celebration in the Residential Care chapel of the Maryknoll Sisters Center in Ossining, N.Y. Sister Agnes (formerly Sister Rose Eileen) was born in Pomeroy, Wash., and entered Maryknoll from Holy Family Parish in Clarkston. She was assigned to Hawaii in 1943, where she taught high school in the Maryknoll Schools in Punahou and Wailuku. She also taught English at Chaminade College from 1960-63. After a year teaching at Maryknoll Teachers’ College at Maryknoll, Sister Agnes was assigned to Hong Kong in 1964, where she taught secondary school in Maryknoll Sisters’ schools in Hong Kong and Kowloon Tong from 1964-1993. She retired to the Maryknoll Sisters retirement house in Monrovia, Calif., in 1994; in 2000 she returned to the Maryknoll Center. Sister Ages currently resides in the Residential Care community at Maryknoll, N.Y.
