The kindergarten and first grade of St. Mary School, Spokane Valley, visited The Pumpkin Patch Oct. 28, where students and teachers were treated to a hayride, a tour of a frontier village, and enjoyed a snack of doughnuts and apple juice. They found their way through a corn maze, sang a song for Penelope the Pumpkin, and learned a little bit about bees. Each student selected a pumpkin and an apple that they got to take home with them. Sacred Heart Medical Center is seeking volunteer pianists to play the grand piano in the Center’s lobby. SHMC needs proficient musicians who would play music conducive to the atmosphere of healing. Teenagers are welcome, but must have parents with them during performances. Performance times are flexible. The musicians would be part of Volunteer Services and would need to complete hospital orientation. For information, call Providence Center for Faith and Healing at Sacred Heart: 474-3008.

Cataldo School teachers John Bovey, Cathy Warzon and Paul Dodroe paused at the top of a rather large slide as they joined in the fun during a play day. The event was a reward to the students for achieving the goal of a recent magazine sales drive which netted some $21,000 for the school. (IR photo from Cataldo School, Spokane)
