Michael Simmons, a volunteer prison minister at Washington State Penitentiary, Walla Walla, has been honored as Volunteer of the Year by the Southeast Region of the Department of Corrections. Simmons has been a prison minister for 28 years. He is one of five regular Catholic volunteers who lead Communion services at the penitentiary.
