Washington’s Catholic Daughters meet in Spokane Valleythe Inland Register (From the July 7, 2005 edition of the Inland Register)
The Washington State Catholic Daughters of the Americas held their 41st annual convention April 22-24 in Spokane Valley with the theme “Speak the Truth in the Spirit of Love.” Each CDA Court of Washington State was represented by the convention’s 90 delegates and 20 alternates.
Special addresses during the weekend were given by Kimberly Spicka of Elhorn, Neb., the CDA’s National Director, and Camille DeBlase, Director of the Center for Life Principles and Director of Development for Human Life. Elections during the convention saw Pat Connell, a member of Court Washington 196 from Hayden, Idaho, selected as State Regent. From Asotin, Wash., Lisa Jensen of Court St. Catherine of Sienna #2059 was elected State Vice Regent. Second Vice Regent is now Charlene Dronen of Cashmere, Wash., a member of Court Wenatchee #155. Mary Southerland, Court Sacred Heart, Pullman, is State Secretary. State Treasurer is Gina Green, Court St. Pius X in Mount Lake Terrace, Wash. Honored as Catholic Daughters of the Year were Pat Connell and Charlene Dronen. The Catholic Daughters of the Americas was founded in 1903 by the Knights of Columbus. It is the largest organization of Catholic Women in the United States. There are 1,384 courts with more than 90,000 members in the United States and its territories.
