Three new members were recently appointed to the Priestly Formation Council for the Diocese of Spokane.

• Father Patrick Hartin is a Scripture professor in the Religious Studies Department at Gonzaga University and a native of South Africa. He was recently incardinated by Bishop Skylstad as a priest of the Diocese of Spokane. Along with traditional undergraduates, Father Hartin teaches Bishop White seminarians in his Scripture courses.
• Dr. Karin Heller is a religion professor at Whitworth College in Spokane. She holds a doctorate in theology from the Lateran University in Rome and another from the Sorbonne University in Paris. Dr. Heller is a member of St. Thomas More Parish in Spokane.
• Jesuit Father Kevin Waters is a long-time professor of music and philosophy at Gonzaga University. Over the years, Father Waters has taught many seminarians in formation at Bishop White Seminary.

The purpose of the Priestly Formation Council is to act as a consultative body to the bishop regarding policies and procedures relative to the priestly formation program for the Diocese of Spokane. Members participate in the screening process of seminary applicants and regularly review the progress of all seminarians studying for the diocese.

The other members of the Priestly Formation Council for 2004-2005 are Bishop William Skylstad, Father Darrin Connall (ex-officio), Deacon Roy Dahl, Kristine Fisher, and Kathy Hicks.
