Immaculate Heart Retreat Center, Spokane, was the setting for the Parish Services Office’s annual Ministry Day for pastoral leaders from throughout Eastern Washington.

Dominican Sister Judith Nilles, the Bishop’s Secretary for Evangelization and Director of the PSO, presented the day, with Paul Mach, the PSO’s consultant for youth ministry.

Special guest was Tim Mullner, a national consultant for Benziger Company, at McMillan-McGraw-Hill Publishers. His presentation was titled “Whatever Happened to Joy? The Spirituality of the Catechetical Leader.” Mullner revisited key points of the Second Vatican Council, and discussed reclaiming the spirit of the Council in today’s ministry.

Besides the Aug. 24, session, the PSO offered leadership days Aug. 25 and 26 as well, focused on new Directors of Religious Education and youth ministers, orienting them to diocesan policies and procedures, said Sister Judith.
