The funeral Mass was celebrated in the Chapel at the Dominican Center on March 12, followed by burial in Holy Cross Cemetery, Spokane. A Memorial Mass for Sister Eumelia was celebrated at Sinsinawa, Wis., on March 16. She was born March 22, 1915, in Roedersheim, Germany. She entered the Dominican community in Speyer, Germany, in 1934. She was trained as a nurse in 1936. From Germany, Sister Eumelia came to America as a novice in July, 1937 with a group of 22 professed Religious, novices and postulants. She made her first Religious profession in August 1937 in Kettle Falls, Wash. Sister Eumelia served in health care ministries at Saint Mary Hospital, Conrad, Mont.; Mount Carmel Hospital, Colville; and Holy Family Hospital and Holy Family Nursing Home, Spokane. She retired to the Dominican Center in 1995 until moving to Manor Care Nursing Home in January 2004.
