Archbishop Sambi brought to his ministry a robust faith, trusting that the power of God’s grace was ever alive in the world. This led him to the unshakable conviction that courtesy, respect for others and kindness are powerful ways of being a true servant of the Church. When I think of him, I think of Blessed John Paul's statement: "The goal of the Church is to make of the enemy a brother." In a word, Archbishop Pietro Sambi knew what it meant to be graceful.
