Ordained to the Priesthood for the Archdiocese of Omaha, August 16, 1975.
Appointed July 7, 1998; ordained and installed as Bishop of Rapid City September 21, 1998
Appointed June 30, 2010; officially installed as Bishop of Spokane September 3, 2010

College of St. Thomas, St. Paul, MN B.A. in Philosophy, 1971
Seminary - North American College and Gregorian University, Rome S.T.B., 1974; M.A. in Theology, 1975
Graduate - The Catholic University of America, Washington, DC
S.T.L. in Sacramental Theology, 1979; S.T.D. in Sacramental Theology, with dissertation entitled: ADVENT IN THE ROMAN TRADITION: An Examination and Comparison of the Lectionary Readings as Hermeneutical Units in Three Periods, 1987
