St. Patrick Scout earns Eagle rankthe Inland Register (From the Jan. 17, 2008 edition of the Inland Register)
Brock Basta of Scout Troop 258, sponsored by St. Patrick Church in Hillyard, was awarded the rank of Eagle Scout last month. Brock graduated from Gonzaga Prep and is currently attending Eastern Washington University, Cheney. For his Eagle Scout project, Brock supervised the remodeling of the parish garage at St. Patrick, which included replacing the dirt floor with cement and building equipment storage shelves. Brock enlisted the help of his father and Scoutmaster Mike Basta, Assistant Scoutmaster Steve Warren, parishioner John Dotts, Dr. Rick Kellogg, and his fellow Scouts and their families. He also received donations of materials from Lowe’s and Central Pre-mix. A plaque noting his service project will be affixed to the garage at a later date. Brock has been involved with Scouting since second grade and earned both the Parvuli Dei and Ad Altare Dei Catholic religious awards from Bishop Skylstad. He is the son of Mike and Kathy Basta, Spokane.
