Matthew Nicks ordained a deacon April 29 at Assumption Church

Matthew Nicks, a seminarian studying for the Diocese of Spokane, was ordained to the diaconate Sunday, April 29, by Bishop William Skylstad at Assumption Church, Spokane, where Deacon Nicks has been engaged in a year of pastoral ministry.

In August, he will return to North American College, Rome, where he will complete his seminary studies prior to ordination to the priesthood for the Spokane Diocese.

Deacon Nicks, 23, is a native of Spokane, where his family belongs to St. Peter Parish.
