Garden Crypt nears completion at St. Joseph Cemetery, Spokane Valleythe Inland Register (From the Feb. 2, 2006 edition of the Inland Register)
Construction is nearing completion on a new development for St. Joseph Cemetery in the Spokane Valley. The St. Benedict Garden Crypt is now approximately 85 percent complete, and can now accept traditional entombment in 80 crypts and cremated remain inurnment in 96 niches. Final steps to completion of the project’s first phase include some roof work, sidewalks, and landscaping. In its final form, the project will include three buildings. The fronts of the crypts and niches are of colonial rose granite. Pertinent information will be engraved on bronze-bordered, black granite inserts – unique to this design – to be installed later. St. Joseph Cemetery’s garden crypt structure comes in response to requests for several years for such a service at the cemetery. Many families have already selected their future burial location in advance of actual need. During construction, crypts and niches are available for purchase at a discounted rate. Information is available at Holy Cross Cemetery during regular business hours – 467-5496 – or at St. Joseph Cemetery by appointment – 891-6420.
