Jesuit Father William Watson, Gonzaga University’s first Vice President for Mission, has been appointed to a new post as assistant to the provincial for the Colombia-Oregon Mission.

The appointment came from Jesuit Father John Whitney, provincial of the Oregon Province of the Society of Jesus.

Father Watson, a native of Spokane, has been at GU since June 1999.

In his new role, he will help develop and work with a task force exploring how province-wide engagement with Colombia benefits all concerned. He has been working on the initiative for the last three years.
