Jesuit Father Jack Harrington, 89 years old, died March 5 in Spokane. The funeral Mass was celebrated March 12 at the Jesuit House Chapel on the Gonzaga University campus. The vigil service was held there as well, the evening before. Interment was at the Jesuit cemetery at Mount St. Michael’s. He entered the Society of Jesus in 1936 at Sheridan, Ore., and studied philosophy at Mount St. Michael’s, Spokane. His theology studies were at Alma College, California. He taught at Gonzaga Prep, Gonzaga University, and Seattle University, and was ordained a priest in 1948 in St. Mary Cathedral, San Francisco. Besides teaching, Father Harrington served as parochial vicar of the parish in Havre, Mont., and was in residence at St. Francis Xavier, Missoula, Mont. He retired to the Regis Community in Spokane in 2000.
