Annual Catholic Appeal reaches 79 percent of goal

Since Commitment Weekend, Feb. 8-9, the Annual Catholic Appeal Office has recorded 8,148 gifts and pledges amounting to $1,606,394.

This amount equals 70 percent of the 2003 goal of $2,030,000. The results for this year’s Appeal are slightly behind the results for 2002, when 84 percent of the goal had been pledged by this time.

There are 13 parishes that have reached 100 percent of the goal set for the parish. Additionally, seven parishes have reached 90 percent or more of their goal.

Pledges and gifts to the Annual Catholic Appeal represent the largest part of the income for the Diocese of Spokane. In 2002 it was 65 percent of all the income realized by the diocese.

Contributions to the Appeal are still being accepted. Pledge envelopes are available in all parishes throughout the diocese. In addition, contributions can be made through the Appeal website: www.spokaneannualappeal.com.
