Three join priestly formation program at Bishop White Seminary

Three new seminarians have been accepted into the priestly formation program for the Diocese of Spokane. All three men are studying at Bishop White Seminary for the Diocese of Spokane.

Joshua Haxton begins his seminary formation as a 19-year-old college freshman. Josh was educated in Spokane at St. Thomas More School and Salk Junior High. He received his high school education through both a home-school program and North Central High School.

After high school, Josh spent a year with the Legionnaires of Christ in Chesire, Conn.

Josh’s parents, two brothers, and one sister, live in Tekoa, Wash., and are members of Sacred Heart Parish there.

James “Jimmy” Peak is a 28-year-old seminarian enrolled in Bishop White’s pre-theology program. Jimmy holds two Bachelor of Arts Degrees from Gonzaga University, in biology and religious studies.

For the past six years, Jimmy served in the United States Army, where he attained the rank of captain. His most recent posting was at Fort Lewis, Wash., where he served as a division chief at the Center for Health Promotion and Preventative Medicine.

Jimmy is scheduled to finish this year at Bishop White Seminary and move on to study theology in September.

Ricardo Flores Mendez was born and raised in Toluca, Mexico. At 25 years old, he has already completed one year of philosophy at the diocesan seminary of Toluca.

Ricardo is currently enrolled in the English as a Second Language Program through Gonzaga University. After completion of the ESL program in August, Ricardo will finish his Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy through Gonzaga.
